Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?


Joy’s Cozy Oven is not a storefront bakery. I operate from my independent kitchen in Downtown Toronto (Bay & College Street).




How far in advance do I need to place my order?


The earlier the better. I’ll try my best to accommodate every order, but ultimately I’m only one person. Placing your order about 1 month to 2 weeks in advance would be ideal.




How do I place my custom order?


Please email cozyoven@gmail.com or fill out my order form.
If you have a design in mind, please feel free to send me any drawings or photo references you have.
If you haven’t decided on what you’re looking for yet, feel free to browse my CAKE and CUPCAKE gallery. I’m also happy to meet or have a chat over the phone about potential designs.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your order. Order is only confirmed after the non-refundable deposit is received. If an order is made within 7 days, full upfront payment is required.




When is the final balance due?


The final balance is due 7 days prior to pickup. A reminder will be sent if the balance is not received at this time. Failure to pay following the reminder may result in the order being cancelled and the deposit being retained as compensation for equipment purchased, ingredients used, and time spent on the order.




What is your cancellation policy?


I require a minimum notice of 7 days prior to pickup and 30 days for weddings. Your deposit is non-refundable.




What if I want to make changes to my order?


Any changes made to your order within 7 days of collection may incur a surcharge, depending on the change requested. In most cases changes can be accommodated, however there are times it will not possible. However, I will endeavour to accommodate you to the best of my ability.




What are your payment methods?


I accept email transfer to cozyoven@gmail.com.




Do you use nuts in your products?


Some products contain nuts or nut extracts. My baked goods are made in one kitchen, and may not be suitable for those with nut allergies.




Do you offer gluten-free options and dairy-free options?


I currently only offer gluten-free for chocolate cupcakes /cakes. Dairy-free options are available for some baked goods. All of my baked goods are made in one kitchen, so they may not be suitable for those with extremely sensitivities.




Are any of your products sugar-free?


No.




How do I serve and store cupcakes/cakes?


Buttercream covered cakes, naked cakes and cupcakes should removed from the fridge and brought to room temperature prior to serving (about 1-2 hours). More time is needed for larger cakes. Cupcakes/cakes taste best at room temperature when the buttercream is soft.

Leftover cupcakes/cake will keep well for about 5 days in the fridge when properly stored; when refrigerating, store in closed containers to prevent cupcakes/cake from drying out.
Cupcakes/cake can also be stored at room temperature in a closed container for up to 2 days.
Please store fondant figures in a cool and dry place to avoid condensation.




Do you deliver?


Deliveries within Downtown Toronto are available. Delivery starts at $40. If you are unable to pick up, I'll also be happy to coordinate curbside delivery through Uber or other rideshare services. For pick up, you can safely transport chilled cakes and cupcakes in the boxes provided. Buttercream cakes are more stable when cold. Please place cakes on a flat, level surface such as floor of passenger seat. Drive carefully and be cautious when going around turns and bumps.
